Me on the Web by Google

Category: Applications, Release Date: 17-Jun-2011

On April we talked about how you could keep your Facebook Image clean and safe. But if this tool was just related to Facebook, now we want to show you what Google has come up with. It is called “Me on the Web”.

The tool enables users to monitor details of their identity on the Web and get informed when new things pop up. Me on the Web enables users to set up Google Alerts for their names, email address and other personal data that appears on the Web, social networking services or news stories. Google also provides links to information and resources about trying to control information third-party companies gather about you.

  • How to start?

You need to have a Google Account and a public profile.  If you have those setup, you can access Google Accounts and there you will see the new tool “Me on the Web”.

  • How does it work?

Google takes the information you enter into your public profile and automates the process of setting up alerts to let you know when that information appears elsewhere on the Web.

The online reputation management will help you to know what people are saying about you online. A good time to use it would be when looking for a job; We assume you wouldn’t want your future boss to see you in the middle of a crowd of drunken people.  Right?
