The agency has a special unit in Mclean, Virginia with hundreds of operators jokingly referred to as “ninja librarians” that comb through social media to gauge the mood of public opinion and even track and presumably assist in revolutions. The millions of status updates, images, stories and chats are constantly analyzed to become part of a daily “online mood” report delivered in a daily briefing given to President Obama.
So just in case you were wondering if anybody actually reads your Facebook updates the answer is yes!
